Happy Thanksgiving from all the animals, staff and volunteers here at Kids Saving the Rainforest. This project wouldn't be possible without the support and donations that we receive from all our benefactors whom have all become part of our family! Thank you! We've been accepted as part of the Newman's Own Foundation $500k Holiday Challenge! It starts tomorrow and a total of $500,000 will be given away to organizations in the Challenge. Please help us raise as much money as we can so we can win the $150,000 grand prize donation. All proceeds from fundraising efforts go directly to keeping this extraordinary organization running, and giving the animals the care they so desperately need. From massive fruit and vegetable orders to medical supplies, the costs for running the operation are quite high, so any help that you can provide goes a very long way!

Meet Elise, a Grey Crowned Squirrel Monkey who arrive around a week ago.
She is one more victim of the #powerlines in Costa Rica. Some tourists saw her lying down at the roadside in Manuel Antonio and called us to the rescue. They believed that she just fell of and had something broken but we figured out it was an eletrocution. She had serious burns on her right leg and tail aswell as neurological trauma. She lost her Achilles tendon and half of her tail needed to be amputated. Is to soon to say if she will recover the foot moviment and be able to be released someday but so far she is improving with the treatments gave to her by our #ClinicTeam. The neurological function is slowly coming back to normal and she is already able to grab the food using her left hand and eat for herself, but she still moving in circles very disoriented. Elise still have a long way to go, she probably will need phisical therapy and special atention but we are very positive about her recovery. If you see an animal being eletrocuted in Quepos and Manuel Antonio area please contact us, even if is to late and the animal is dead, so we can contact ICE to ask for isolate the power line in the location. Situations like that also can be prevent with our #WildlifeBridge project, but it is only possible with the generous donations of people like you! More information about the project and how you can help on: http://www.kidssavingtherainforest.org/wildlife-bridge-program.html Conoce a Elise, un Mono Ardilla Cabecigris que ha llegado hace como una semana. Even though he could not survive, his x-rays and cat scan helped us learn more about sloth anatomy, and we will always be grateful for his brief presence. We are so grateful that generous donations allowed us to collect this important data. |
