Each sloth had been individually orphaned or abandoned, then rescued and brought to the Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica in 2015. After raising these sloths from infancy, the Sloth Sanctuary is honored to place Issy, Phoebe and Wendy with KSTR. Since these sloths did not have the benefit of their respective mothers’ instinctive survival training, they are not currently considered as good candidates for release back to the wild. They might perish from malnutrition without knowing the essential life lessons that only their own mothers can teach. So, the next best thing: becoming educational ambassadors at KSTR! The more youths that observe, respect and understand rainforest wildlife, the better the future of the planet. Stay in touch with us as we report on this exciting new phase for Issy, Phoebe and Wendy.
