Rainforest Plants

 

 

Plants you will find where the Titi monkey lives:

•  Bromeliads - Originating in Central America and other tropical areas, these plants are common in gardens and as indoor potted plants worldwide. Oftentimes, they are found growing in the middle canopy of the rainforest.

•  Poinsettia - Growing to heights of 10-15 feet, these shrubs, which flower during the winter months, are common decorative plants for the holiday seasons.

•  Heliconias - There are various types of Heliconias in the tropical areas of the world, a few of which are very abundant in the Pacific regions of Costa Rica. These beautifully colored plants range in size from 4-10 feet in height, with the distinct flower sizes and colors among certain Heliconia species.

•  Spathe Flower - The Spathe flower, also known as "Mauna Loa," is a hearty growing plant often found flourishing in shady areas. You may have seen this popular flower, which is often potted as a houseplant. Its white flowers sprout from the plants base that grows to 1 ½ ft.- 4ft.

•  Crepe Jasmine - Originating in Central America, this beautiful evergreen shrub grows in a crooked fashion until it reaches its average height of 10-12ft. This shrub produces fragrant white flowers with a yellow throat. These blossoms grow to two inches in length.
