Planeterra has continued to
support various Costa Rican Rainforest initiatives, in
particular we recently received thanks and feedback from the Kids Saving the
Rainforest project we support in Manuel Antonio. We're happy to report that our
2006 donation has gone to support their new Animal Rehabilitation Centre.
Kids Saving the Rainforest (KSTR) is a non-profit organization founded in
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
by two school children, with the original purpose of raising enough money to
save the rainforests and Titi monkeys of the Manuel
Antonio area. Planterra-the G.A.P Adventures Foundation
has supported the construction of Monkey Bridges in the past - helping ensure
the population growth. Our 2006 donation has gone to sustaining the new animal
rehabilitation centre including veterinary services and medical care. KSTR has
a very successful rehabilitation program that saves and rehabilitates injured
and abandon animals. They have rehabilitated sloths,
kinkajous, birds, monkeys and are currently rehabilitating a baby sloth and a
baby titi monkey. KTSR is in the process of building
a new Animal Rehabilitation Centre for these Rainforest animals so that the
animals will be able to recover and be cared for in a beautiful peaceful
environment in the Rainforest.
Planeterra is happy to support the sustainability of
these programs. If you would like further information on KTSR please visit http://www.planeterra.org/costarica.php
